Helping You Make the Most of Your Magical Mini Baking Moments!
Who are Little Baker products for?
Everyone! Our mixes are designed to create safe, achievable baking experiences. They are especially helpful for children who benefit from structured, predictable activities - including children with food allergies, sensory sensitivities, food aversions, or developmental differences.
What makes Little Baker different from other baking kits?
Little Baker was intentionally created with accessibility, inclusion, and confidence-building in mind. From allergen-friendly ingredients to simplified steps and sensory-aware design, our products focus on making baking feel doable for more families.
Are Little Baker products considered therapeutic?
Our products are intended to turn familiar play into meaningful, real-world skill practice in a gentle, low-pressure way. Little Baker products are not therapy and are not intended to diagnose, treat, or replace professional services. However, many families and clinicians use our mixes as a supplemental, play-based tool to support skill-building, routines, and confidence in everyday life.
How can these mixes support learning and development?
Through guided play, children can practice:
- Following directions and sequencing steps
- Fine motor skills - pouring, scooping, mixing
- Early math and reading concepts
- Waiting, patience, and task completion
- Independence and confidence
All of this happens in a format that feels familiar, fun, and achievable.
My child has sensory sensitivities or food aversions. Is this a good fit?
Many families choose Little Baker because our mixes allow children to interact with food without pressure to eat. Touching, smelling, mixing, and creating are all valid forms of participation. The small scale and predictable steps help reduce overwhelm and support comfort at a child's own pace.
Can therapists or educators use Little Baker products?
Yes. Our mixes are often used by occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, feeding therapists, and educators as a supportive, play-based resource. They can be incorporated into sessions, caregiver education, or recommended for home practice under adult supervision. Our products are designed to fit naturally into both home routines and professional settings.
How should adults support children using the mixes?
Adult supervision is always recommended. Support may look different for each child - reading directions together, modeling steps, offering encouragement, or simply allowing space for exploration. Progress looks different for every family.
What if my child does not have any food allergies?
No problem! Little Baker mixes are made to be inclusive, not exclusive. That means your child doesn't have to have food allergies to enjoy them - they just have to love baking! We created these mixes so every child could join the fun, safely and deliciously.
Do I need an Easy-Bake Oven to use these mixes?
Nope! While our mixes are designed to work perfectly in a toy baking oven, you don't need one to enjoy them. We encourage the use of an Easy-Bake Oven or any child-safe toy oven for independence and convenience, but it's not required.
You can also use:
- A standard oven (adult-supervised) - recommended for birthday baking parties or larger families
- A countertop toaster oven (great for quick baking)
Each mix comes with easy-to-follow instructions for both Easy-Bake Ovens and standard (or counter top) ovens - so you can bake your way, with or without the toy oven.
What is important is that you use Easy-Bake Oven-sized pans, since our mixes are portioned for small-batch baking fun.
What do I need at home to use a Little Baker mix?
Just a few basics:
- An Easy-Bake Oven, standard oven, or countertop oven
- A mini baking pan (Easy-Bake Oven sized: 3.5" round pan, or 4"X6" rectangle or similar)
- A small bowl
- A spoon or small silicone spatula (preferred)
- Measuring spoons: tablespoon, teaspoon, and half teaspoon
- And water - that's it!
You won't need any other ingredients. Every mix is designed to be as easy and mess-free as possible.
How much does each mix make?
Each mix is a single-serving activity - perfect for short attention spans and quick satisfaction. You can expect to make:
- One mini cake or brownie
- Two small cookies
It's the perfect portion for kids to bake and enjoy their own treat.
How should the batter look? Did I add too much water?
For cakes and brownies, your batter should be pourable - not watery, but smooth and easily spreadable.
Because water sources vary (tap, filtered, bottled), your mix might need a bit more or bit less than what the label says.
We recommend:
- Add water a little bit at a time - if the recipe says 3 tablespoons of water, add 1 tablespoon at a time
- Mix thoroughly between each
- Stop when it is spreadable (not stiff, not runny)
For cookies: The batter should hold a soft, pancake-like shape.
- Thicker = chewier
- Looser = fluffier
Don't stress. As long as it's not soup or a brick, it'll bake just fine - and your little one will think it's magic either way.
These are gluten-free - will they bake the same?
Yes! Because we've removed gluten and several other common allergens, the texture might feel a little different if your'e used to conventional boxed mixes - but the taste and the magic are all there. Every Little Baker mix will bake up beautifully. Some treats, like the Coconut Mochi Cake and the Thai Sticky Mango Rice Cake, are intentionally denser and chewier to honor the texture of their cultural origins - and they are delicious as they are. The cookies have also been perfected to have a soft slightly chewy bite that's incredibly kid-friendly and comforting.
Your little one is going to be proud of what they've made, and you'll be surprised just how great "just add water" can taste!
Why aren't the mixes super sweet?
Because that's on purpose! Some mixes were intentionally created to be a little more subtle, especially in our Asian and Latin American-inspired collections. These flavors were designed to honor classic desserts from around the world in a way that's also super kid-friendly, especially for first-time tasters.
Many of our mixes are thoughtfully paired with a glaze or frosting to balance the overall sweetness. So if the cake or cookie feels a little less sweet on its own - trust the process! The topping completes the experience.
How do you know kids will like them?
These recipes were tested, mixed, and loved by real kids - including my own 9-year-old. She and her friends tested every single mix and topping. They're just regular kids with regular taste buds. Some were instant hits, others took tweaking. But they liked every single one -even the ones that weren't considered "favorites".
Do I need to buy and Easy-Bake Oven?
Not necessarily. But if you're looking to:
- Encourage more independent,
- Avoid heating a full-size oven for a tiny treat,
- Or gift a full baking experience...
Then an Easy-Bake Oven (or similar kid's oven) is a wonderful companion to our mixes.
We also recommend checking secondhand sites or marketplace listings if you don't want to buy new - there are so many gently loved ovens out there looking for a second life!
Where can I get the right size pan?
You can find Easy-Bake Oven-compatible pans online with ease. Retailers like Amazon and Walmart often carry a few great options. You might also spot mini metal or silicone pans at craft stores or specialty baking shops online.
Just be sure to choose a shallow pan (especially if you're using a toy oven), so it fits safely and bakes evenly. We recommend pans around 3.5 inches wide and low in depth for best results.
What does "allergy-friendly" mean?
Every mix is gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, and nut-free. They are also free from artificial dyes. Our products avoid the most common allergens and also steer clear of other unnecessary ingredients. We are transparent about all of our ingredients - always check the back of each package for a full list of what is in each mix.
How should I store the mixes?
Keep them in a cool, dry place, just like you would cake mix or flour.
They're shelf-stable and are sealed up tight to stay fresh for well over a year... But let's be honest - these little mixes won't last that long!
They're just too fun, too easy, and too delicious. Once your little baker gets a taste of making their own treats, you'll be back for more before the oven even cools down!
